Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 8, 2026
Overview
Press Club helps founders earn press coverage. We run media outreach campaigns on behalf of our clients, and with your permission we connect to your Google account to send and track that outreach from your own mailbox. Our service combines manual campaign work with AI-assisted pitch and reply drafting, plus reply classification for team notifications. The team can review contact history and proposed replies in Slack, then edit, regenerate, and approve replies for sending. You can continue reading and replying in your existing email client while working with the Press Club team. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to pressclub.app and to the Press Club application that connects to Google services.
Information we collect
Information you give us. When you fill out a form on our site, book a call, or work with us on a campaign, we collect contact details such as your name, email address, LinkedIn profile and company, plus the page source and campaign materials you share with us.
Google user data. If you connect your Google account, we access the Google account data described below.
Google user data
Depending on the feature you connect, Press Club requests some or all of the following permissions. Google displays the permissions for that connection before you authorize it:
- Send email (gmail.send). Sends campaign pitches, follow-ups, and replies from your connected mailbox as part of the outreach workflow you arrange with our team.
- Read email (gmail.readonly). Allows access to messages in your mailbox, including message content and thread information. We use this access to receive and match replies to campaign outreach and check which sender addresses your mailbox is allowed to send from. We also read sent messages to record replies you send directly from your email client and keep campaign response tracking up to date. Incoming messages that do not match an existing campaign may also be received and retained. We also classify received replies, prepare suggested replies using message and contact history and campaign context, and share message-content notifications and reply drafts with the Press Club team in Slack. Staff access to Google content through the campaign Inbox remains restricted.
- Calendar (calendar.readonly). Reads calendar event details, including attendees, to detect and track interview bookings when calendar integration is enabled. Automated Calendar booking detection and related preparation are currently paused.
- Specific Drive files, including Sheets (drive.file). Creates and updates campaign media-list spreadsheets. Access is limited to files the app creates or that you authorize for use with the app.
- Account identity (openid, userinfo.email). Identifies the Google account you select and associates a connection with its email address. A separate owner-review sign-in can request only these identity permissions. Signing in does not connect Gmail or authorize staff access; a separate decision is needed for the selected messages in that review flow.
We use Google user data solely to provide the outreach service you engaged us for. Current mailbox processing includes automated intake and response tracking, including replies you send from your existing email client. Reply classification, Slack notifications, contact history, and AI-assisted reply drafting have been restored for campaign operations. Authorized operators can review, edit, regenerate, and approve replies for sending through Slack. Staff access to Google content through the campaign Inbox remains restricted. Earlier versions allowed Press Club operators to review received messages, thread context and reply drafts through the Inbox, including unmatched messages. Our review of specific-message consent and historical staff access remains in progress. Restoring the Slack reply workflow does not establish Google approval or verification, and does not resolve that review. These restrictions do not delete previously retained records or copies. We do not use Google user data for advertising. We do not sell Google user data. We do not use Google user data to develop, improve, or train generalized artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
Our Google connection page explains the mailbox workflow and how to get help with your connection.
The use of information received from Google Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. More broadly, Press Club's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
How we store and protect data
Data is encrypted in transit using TLS. Campaign data, including send logs and reply tracking, is stored on access-controlled servers that only authorized Press Club team members can reach. OAuth credentials are stored securely and are never shared outside Press Club.
Data sharing
We send campaign materials to OpenAI to help prepare pitches. We also send received reply text to OpenAI to classify reply intent for notifications. To prepare proposed replies, we send reply contents, related thread and contact history, and campaign context to OpenAI. Slack notifications allow authorized Press Club operators to review sender and subject details, message text, related history, proposed replies and, where available, attachments. Operators can edit or regenerate a draft and approve it for sending through Slack under the workflow you arrange with our team. Staff access to Google content through the campaign Inbox remains restricted. You can continue drafting and sending replies directly through your existing email client.
We do not sell your personal information. Campaign messages are reviewed by you or a Press Club operator under the workflow you arrange with our team before sending. We share data with service providers only as needed to operate the service, including cloud hosting and workflow automation, and only under confidentiality obligations. We may disclose information if required by law.
Retention and deletion
Existing campaign records and associated mailbox data, including received messages, thread context and previously generated reply drafts, remain stored when processing workflows are paused. Pausing a workflow is not a deletion request. To request deletion of your connected account credentials and associated mailbox data from our systems, email [email protected].
Your choices
You can revoke Press Club's access to your Google account at any time at Google Account connections. Revoking Google authorization stops future authorized Google API access. It does not itself delete information already retained by Press Club. For help stopping your campaign, deleting the data we hold for you, or exporting it, email [email protected].
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update this page and revise the effective date above. We will notify active clients by email about changes that affect how we handle Google user data.
